Cobalt: Seafloor Resources vs. Global Land Reserves


This graphic explores how seafloor cobalt resources compare to global land reserves. While the DRC leads in above-ground reserves, its scale pales in comparison to the vast cobalt resources beneath the ocean. According to the In Gold We Trust Report 2024, seafloor cobalt resources are estimated at 94 Mt—more than 12 times the 7.5 Mt of global land reserves.
